With everyone doing their part to keep the virus under control we wanted to share a few things our family is doing to keep our minds occupied and stay sane:
DIY Projects: Over the past three days we have tackled refinishing our dining room table. Allison has had this table longer than she has had me and it's looking a bit tiered/dated so we did some research (on YouTube) and jumped in. For less then $300 we were able to refinish the table, leaf and 6 chairs in three days (Allison will post before and afters at some point).
Education: Sophia's school is closed but they have provided us with lesson plans and the curriculum they were/are working on. It's actually very cool to see her focus and work away though she says I am not as good at teaching as her teacher. At the same time this has been a great we are taking this opportunity for us to sharpen our skills. We have three online 3 courses set up for the next week and am looking for others. If you see any good ones let me know.
Basement Workouts: Shane home YMCA is closed as is 9Roundss where Allison works out but we still need something to keep my mind and body in check (have you noticed wine disappearing from your house faster than usual recently)? We don’t have much for a home gym but we do have a few weights and a couple yoga mats. The Nike Training Club app is amazing (and free) with workouts for all different levels of fitness, available equipment and available time. 9Rounds has been putting out workouts as well, we did one yesterday and it kicked my ass pretty thoroughly.
Read a Book: I love to read but I don’t actually read many books. I listen to a fair amount of audio books in the car but with how busy our lives have become sitting down and actually reading a book-aside from Pinkaliciuos or anything Frozen-is pretty foreign to me. With a bit of extra time on my hands, I am excited to take a few quiet minutes here and there and get into a book.
Cooking: Allison and I both love to cook and have decided this is a good time to be a bit more adventurous in the kitchen. Allison made (get this) lentil tacos and they were delicious. It's so easy to eat pre-made food and get takeout (or just eat chips) but why not have some fun and try a few new things.
These are a few of the things we are doing to stay positive during this challenging time. Please comment below with what you are up to and let me know if you would like any links to anything I mentioned above.
